Septembers official challenge was to do life drawing, but I pretty much ticked that box in August Adipose, there was an unofficial BTTF art ‘challenge’ going around that I was invited too so I ran with that instead.

First was Marty in his Back to the Future 3 cowboy get up. This was pencil on A3 paper… and wasn’t great. I mean it looks like a person and if you squint you can make out who!

Second was a much more fluid, and faster, image of good ol’ Doc Brown from the first movie. This was done in Charcoal on A4 paper and came out far better! I don’t know if it’s the smaller paper, the charcoal or just a better image but it actually looks like him!

I like charcoal, its far more blendable and you can get some really good shades of grey and deep black, I try and smudge pencil a lot so I think I might be on the right lines for charcoal!
